Dr. Horst G. Heinol-Heikkinen

CEO and Founder

Dr. Heinol-Heikkinen was born in Frankfurt a. M. on 1963. He studied electrical engineering in Frankfurt and Siegen and received a doctorate degree in optical 3D vision techniques. 

He was head of the research team for CMOS Camera devices at the Centre of Sensor Systems in Siegen. At the Battelle Institute of Frankfurt he worked on optical Inter-Satellite Links for the European Space Agency (ESA). He joined also the EADS in Friedrichshafen as head of the R&D Laboratories. 

In 1996 he founded his first company – the todays PMD-technologies, in 2001 he established the ASENTICS vision technology – an application oriented Vision Company and 2009 the Asentics VARIO – a provider for Inspection Machines for the Rubber & Plastic market. 

Since 2006 he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the VDMA Machine Vision Group. In 2009 he becomes also board member of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association. Within the VDMA, he initiated several Industrie 4.0 activities and took over the responsibility for various working groups in the fields of cyber physical systems using OPC UA information modelling. In September 2020 he joins the new Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) as foundation member and has been elected as its deputy chairman.

He is actively engaged in advisory committees of Messe München-AUTOMATICA and HANNOVER MESSE-Industrial Automation.
