Interoperability as a prerequisite for new services based on data
In April 2019, the German platform industry 4.0 presented the strategic agenda for the coming years with the introduction of the mission statement 2030. Interoperability is one of the three pillars of this agenda and standardization plays a central role in this. It is important to strike a balance between the long-term definition of basic mechanisms and openness to technology in order to enable rapid adaptation to new technologies. This is an important prerequisite for the desired interoperability of OT and IT and over the entire life cycle. The SCI 4.0 approach is illustrated by selected examples of interoperability in Industry 4.0 systems and the application of AI in industrial environments.
