Switch off at Safety - No THANK YOU
Safety-relevant control systems for machines and plants today are designed in such a way that the safe state is assumed when errors in safety-relevant components are detected. In almost all situations, this is achieved by switching off the power. For an individual machine, this usually means a machine stop.
The lecture shows the basics and a novel concept how in redundant architectures with a qualified fault diagnosis and a corresponding evaluation, a continued operation for a limited time under certain conditions is possible. The operation in degraded state thus represents a supplement to the principle of energy separation.
For the user, this opens up a multitude of new, additional possibilities in the applications. For example, a work step or shift can be completed without the hard stop that was previously required.
