Maximilian Meixlsperger

During his studies of mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, Maximilian Meixlsperger specialized in production technologies and automobile development and wrote his final thesis at the Rapid Technologies Center of the BMW Group in Munich about a process analysis of the L-PBF process on the first commercial L-PBF machine generation. Following this, Maximilian worked as a Ph.D. student at the BMW Group under the scientific supervision of the Chair for Laser Technology LLT at the RWTH Aachen University, investigating the applicability of L-PBF components in the phases of automotive part production from early prototyping to series production. As an R&D Engineer responsible for research and development of AM metals, Maximilian worked with many Universities, AM companies, AM users and start-ups, towards the industrialization of AM. Since 2016, Maximilian is responsible for the metal processes in the Additive Manufacturing Center – the central Center of Competence for AM within the BMW Group. With his team, he is responsible for the development, and series production of the first metal AM series component in the BMW i8 Roadster.
