Training in Additive Manufacturing
Internal knowledge is a crucial factor when it comes to the implementation of additive technologies within a company. To leverage the potential of additive manufacturing processes in design and production detailed expertise is needed.
The presentation will propose ways to foster an “AM-spirit” and establish AM technologies within a company. Key to a successful AM implementation is to provide easy accessible information opportunities for the employees to get in touch with additive processes. When the first application ideas are created, the implementation is driven by systematical built-up of knowledge. Therefore specialized trainings can be an useful tool. Depending on the previous knowledge, the trainings focus on different target groups. For example, product designers should be supported in “thinking additive” by using tools like topology optimization, biomimicry and AM-related design features. For production trainings the machine settings and process parameters are of interest. Besides the built-up of knowledge, it is important to generate “quick wins” and make them visible within the company to raise awareness and generate new application ideas. In conclusion, the presentation shows ways how to establish Additive Manufacturing technologies and foster an “AM-spirit” within the company by providing supporting tools and methodologies.
